You’ve heard it before. Someone says, “I’m a fifth generation Floridian.”; but what does that really mean?
Does it mean that their great-great grandparents moved to the state and was the first generation Floridian in their family?

Or does it mean that the person who said this was the fifth generation of their family to be born in Florida? The first one born here being a second great grandparent.
