Here is an update on the progress of my latest novel, Palmetto Pioneers: From Harmony to Hostility. It is book 2 in the series.
By mid-summer, I finished the deep editing and turned the book over to my last content editor, a Civil War expert, Clint Johnson. He returned it to me by the end of summer, with some changes needed. Apparently, my dates on some songs published during the war were off. I had their dates wrong. Other changes were needed, but I was happy that there were few.
With the changes made, the book was in the hands of my final editor, who now has it. She will ensure that all my written materials are accurate and high-quality. She will confirm the book flows well and is easy for readers to understand. She checks it for spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. Verification of facts is done. I should have it back and make her changes by the end of this month.
Concurrently, my artist friend is working on the watercolor painting we’ll use for the front cover. After this step, my niece Hannah, a graphic designer, will work on the overall cover, which I’ll add to the final product that goes to Amazon.
There will be a new step for this book. I will send the Amazon-published product to BookSirens to have it reviewed by my fellow authors. Hopefully, they will accept it. Other authors who choose to help can read an Advanced Review Copy for their thoughts.
Finally, I’m hopeful Amazon will publish and release it by Christmas. My goal was always for the end of this year.
